What is urinary incontinence?

Urinary incontinence is defined as the involuntary leakage of urine. There are three different types of urinary incontinence:

  • Stress incontinence. When pressure on the bladder causes leakage (coughing, laughing, sneezing, or exercising).
  • Urge incontinence. The sudden, intense, frequent urge to urinate.
  • Mixed incontinence. A combination of both stress and urge incontinence
