National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey Found:

More than 50% of women are obese.
More than 33% of pregnant women are overweight or obese.

Committee opinion: recommendations

Preconception assessment and counseling are strongly encouraged and should include the explanation of maternal and fetal risks of obesity in pregnancy. OB-GYN physicians should encourage obese patients to undertake a weight-reduction program.

Leading Journals – AJOG, WHI, SGI: Women’s Heart Health – A Missed Opportunity

Cardiovascular disease poses a major threat to women’s health. The American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Women’s Health Issues, and the Journal of Society of Gynecologic Investigation have all published article reviews that recommend an increased role for the OB-GYN in the prevention of cardiovascular disease in women. Although preventive medicine may lack the immediate reward of obstetric and gynecologic interventions, the long- term benefits to the health of women are compelling. Referring your patients to Heal n Cure will protect your patients’ heart health and give you the time to focus on their reproductive health.
